There was no greater mystery shrouding Manhattan than the disappearance of Dorothy Arnold in 1910. She was a 25-year-old socialite who wanted to be a writer. One day, she told her mother that she would shop for a new dress and stepped out. However, she bumped into a friend and said that she planned to walk around Central Park. No one saw her again. She did not go to the lunch date that she set with her mom. The family did not want bad publicity and hired investigators instead of telling the police. Months later, the trail had already gone cold when they finally notified the authorities about it. People think that she took her own life after her manuscript was rejected, while others think that she died during an abortion. Her friends do not think that either was likely as she had been in a good mood before she went missing. While others assumed that her boyfriend killed her, he had been in Italy at the time.

Brian Williams might have changed his name to Bison Dele after quitting the NBA, but he was already known for his eccentricity before that. When he retired, he went to Asia, fired bazookas in the desert, and became a nomad of sorts. In 2007, he purchased a boat called Hakuna Matata and planned to sail to Hawaii from Tahiti with his brother, his beau, and a captain. Sadly, they did not make it to Hawaii. Miles Dabord, his brother, was the only person who surfaced from the trip. After two months, he was arrested in Phoenix when he tried to buy gold with a check that belonged to his brother. It is not hard to figure out what happened. Sadly, this remains a cold case as Dabord died of insulin overdose while on bail.
