She had never really talked to anybody, not even Sadie, about how she felt about Jake and what he had done to her, even though her parents and a few of her friends were aware of it. She was now sharing all that she had been holding inside for far too long.

She completed telling her story after a time. Throughout her conversation, the doctor had remained silent, just nodding sometimes and giving her a tissue box when she began to cry. She was scared to look Dr. Roberts in the eyes as they sat there in total stillness.
