The announcement
My ideal wedding was intended to be the happiest day of my life. During his toast, however, my father got up and declared that he was severing my ties without my consent. Why he would tell me this now, in front of everyone, was beyond me. The worst thing wasn’t even that. He did something so awful and cruel before the night was finished that I sobbed as I left my own wedding celebration.
The Announcement
Guests settle in
There was the usual bustle of conversation at a wedding, with people conversing contentedly in their seats all around me. I tried to take in everything as I looked around the room before focusing on my dad. A little scowl tugged at his face as he sat by himself, nestled away at the corner table. It seemed strange to me, but I ignored the thought and concentrated on the happy smiles around me.
