Feigning A Call
My manager abruptly claimed that his phone buzzed as he sensed the heat. He waved his phone as though it were his lifeline and said, “Oh, I really need to take this important call.” In the hopes of escaping the altercation, he made an effort to stealthily approach the door. My father didn’t like it. Knowing exactly what was going on in our small office confrontation, he didn’t even look his way.

Dad Blocks The Exit
Dad caught everyone’s attention by clearing his throat before my manager could flee. He calmly remarked, “There’s no need to leave; we’re taking care of this right here, right now.” There was a sense of finality to the words as they hung in the air. My manager’s eyes widened, obviously taken aback. He acknowledged that he couldn’t simply ignore this and gently allowed the door to swing back closed.
