Scheduling the Appointment
After several days of reflection, Karen finally made the decision to schedule a visit with her doctor. A wave of nervous anticipation washed over her as she dialed the number for her general physician, setting an appointment for the coming week. Rufus’s recent behavior had given her pause, and she felt a sense of urgency to make sure everything was alright. Though she was anxious about the unknown, there was also a sense of determination, as if Rufus’s watchful presence was silently guiding her toward taking responsible action for her own health.

Explaining to the Doctor
Sitting in the doctor’s office, Karen felt slightly awkward but compelled to explain the unusual circumstances. “It might sound strange,” she began, “but my dog has been unusually attentive lately. He’s been sticking by me constantly, and it feels like he’s trying to tell me something.” The doctor listened carefully, jotting down notes as Karen recounted Rufus’s behavior and Mike’s suggestion. Karen watched intently, hoping that her story made enough sense to justify a thorough checkup. After all, Rufus had never shown such sustained attention and loyalty for no reason, and she felt it could be pointing to something meaningful.
