Usually, when people think of Michigan, they think of Detroit, Flint, and big economic problems. Michigan was once the “Motor City” as the big three auto companies are headquartered there (GM, Ford, & Chrysler). Michigan these days is known for its struggling economy since auto manufacturing has increasingly been outsourced to China leaving the state with a lack of jobs. Nonetheless, there are still some pockets of wealth in the state. We want to feature 3 epic castles that exist in various parts of Michigan. Who would have guessed?
Castle Farms – Charlevoix
Just look at it! This castle was built in 1918 and is a nationally acclaimed French Renaissance castle. It has amazing towers, courtyards, and gardens. It is becoming a popular wedding destination. We would tie the knot there!
The Curwood Castle – Owosso
This amazing castle is located in Curwood Castle Park. It was actually the writing studio of one of America’s most amazing adventure novelists, James Oliver Curwood! It was used by him until 1927, but now it is a museum and open to the public.
Castle Rock – St. Ignace
Wow! What a view! Check out Castle Rock in St. Ignace, Michigan. You can get some of the most amazing views of the Straits of Mackinac and Mackinac Island. Castle Rock is actually an ancient lookout of the Ojiba tribe. To get to the top you have to climb 170 steps, but it is worth it!
